We know that parents want the best for their babies. Research has shown that we can absorb up to 60% of what we put onto our skin into our bloodstream and a square centimetre of baby’s skin has one hundred times the pores of a square centimetre of adult skin.
‘Ingredients are at the heart of our products"
As founders of Organic Monkey we were incredibly shocked and surprised to see the amount of chemicals and potentially harmful ingredients used in baby skin care products, especially those from trusted brands that they naively believed to be safe and pure. Thoroughly checking and reading the labels really opened their eyes and inspired them to produce a range of baby skin care products that would only have beneficial, natural properties.
Organic products are different and offer a wide range of benefits:
*They are gentle enough for delicate and sensitive skin.
*The naturally occurring ingredients in the products are better used and received by your skin than synthetic substances.
*They are less drying to the skin.
*Made with better ingredients that have not been subjected to pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
*Better for the environment.
*Organic farming releases less greenhouse gases that non-organic farming, helping to create a better future for your little monkeys.
We have recognised the importance of certifying all of our products to instil confidence in our customers and to assure them that they we serious about producing truly organic baby skincare. All of our products are certified by the Soil Association which means that they comply with strict rules set at UK, European and international levels. These rules assure all consumers that they are buying genuinely organic products that can be fully traceable back to the farm.
Organic Monkey’s Top Tips for Healthy Baby Skin:
*Avoid bathing your baby too frequently, using chemical laden shampoos or regular soap disrupts baby’s skin barrier and drys out the natural oils that serve to guard your little one’s skin
*Avoid the harsh skin irritants commonly found in conventional baby skincare –steer clear of Parabens, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate, Talc, Artificial fragrances and Petrochemicals (mineral oils) - made from crude oil or mineral oil, petrochemicals act like cling film to the skin - clogging the pores
*Opt for non-biological, fragrance-free washing products for baby’s clothes. General detergents contain high levels of harsh synthetics and preservatives which can irritate a baby’s sensitive skin
*Choose clothes and bed linen with a natural fabric, such as organic cotton, or bamboo which allow baby’s skin to breathe more easily and wash bed linen regularly to avoid mites and dust, which can have a negative effect on baby’s skin
